The battle of Osogbo
After destroying Oyo-Ile, Ilorin's armies pushed south towards the forest.
Overview
After destroying Oyo-Ile, Ilorin's armies pushed south towards the forest. In 1840 Ibadan's army met them at Osogbo and defeated them decisively, halting the jihad's advance into southern Yorubaland. The victory made Ibadan the guardian of the Yoruba against the north, and Oyo refugees poured into the city.[1],[2]High confidence
